Graham's fuselage is just about complete and the tailplane and rudder are fitted. Pictures

Update November 1st 2008

I have all but completed the tail plane and rudder, and have the fuselage assembled, base ply glued on, and turtle  deck frames made. Some metalwork is done, but some welding and brazing to do on hinges and anchor plates. I have elected to go with a Subaru EA81 engine, as a friend has one in a Jodel D18 that goes very well. He has modified it to run without a reduction box, and I am going to get him to go over what he has done so that I can do the same. These engines are hard to come by here, but I managed to find one in the South Island. As luck would have it, it was in the same town that the owner of the Minicab I built 35 years ago lives, and he organised transport for me. That aircraft is still flying, and when we were down there last November, all that had flown in her commented to me what a beautiful aircraft she was to fly.
The advantage with the Subaru not having a reduction box is of course, weight, but also the fact that it is running slower, and under less stress. It is great to have someone who has done it before, and very successfully.

Graham ordered his plans at the beginning of 2008 and finally got started with his build in April 08.
