Problems Laminating the rudder trailing edge - Goeff Whitaker Aug 06 Well where do I start ----- when making the "BOW" initially my laminations were to big ( 6 x 5 = 30 mm) so when I glued them there was too much pressure and some of the laminations came apart - not enough clamps. Second time around I went down to 4 mil laminations and again some came apart even though I clamped it up well . It seems to come apart on the very sharp curves near top and bottom. Enter Keith Picton master aircraft repairer --- tip time Using a piece of mdf draw your shape out from plan then cut it out - the male part that comes away you go around curve , coming in 30 mm (the width of bow) you now cut that out. You are now left with a male and female - glue your laminations up and put them in middle and well and truly clamp it all . He says it never fails ( he doesn't know me ) this is how he does it. I am going to give it a go and I'll let you know how it goes. I also made some basic mistakes in reading the plan and what I was suppose to do - put it down as an age thing.
