My Menestrel made it's maiden flight on Sunday, the test pilot was pleased with the handling and performance and doesn't want any changes made before the next flight. Pictures

I've taxied it up and down the runway a few times, now just putting the finishing touches to it (cowl stripe and seat belts). Hope to have the final inspection in the next couple of weeks. Picture

I'm pushing on with my Menestel, now carrying out a full rig of the flight controls and will be installing the engine next week and hopefully carry out a engine test. if alls well will cover and paint and be ready for the summer, (I've been hear before but should progress through to the finish).

March 2006 (Update copied from email)

Luckily for me, my travel is know restricted to Europe so I’m only away for 1 week at a time and thankfully most of the work is completed so I’m hoping to get down to some serious work on the project.

I made a mistake on two scarf joints on the leading edge, I copied the way my Jodel joint was done, (the Jodel was rebuilt after a landing accident in 1998/9 and a small repair was required on the leading edge) but my inspector pointed out that we know better now and can make a stronger joint (I’ll explain at the Rally). This put me back a bit, but all is now prepared just waiting for some better weather to start gluing.

Spring 2005

My name is Barry Enock, I purchased the project started by David and Sheila Whitehead back in 2002, I am progress well with the project and had hoped to be at Kemble this year with it, unfortunately due to work commitments I have dropped behind with my time scale but still hope to have it flying by year end (ha-ha).

The wing is almost complete (just the wing tips [pain in the ass)  and inboard sections of leading edge to complete), the fuselage is complete with canopy, fuel tanks and panel, the engine has been installed but off at the moment due to storage. I am hoping to put wing and fuselage together in the next few weeks and then get down to covering and painting. All the flying controls i.e. rudder, ailerons, empennage, elevators and flaps are covered ready for painting.
